Eligibility for funding

Only Canada Revenue Agency recognized charities working in the social services field throughout the United Counties of Prescott Russell will be considered for funding.

 

     1.  GENERAL INFORMATION

  1. A charitable organization cannot submit more than one grant application for a community project. However, the application can cover more than one project within the organization.
  2. A project is an activity tailored to meet a specific priority need in the community.
  3. The maximum grant allowed is $15,000 dollars for a period of one year.
  4. The beneficiary agency is required to acknowledge support from Centraide United Way Prescott Russell on all documents.
  5. The applicant agencies that have no other income from public funding, have no reserve fund and have limited liquidity will be prioritized.

Note: The amount of the financial support allocated depends on the nature of the project presented, the number of proposals received, the donations collected and the financial resources that can be reinvested within the Prescott-Russell communities.

    2 PURPOSE OF CENTRAIDE/UNITED WAY PRESCOTT-RUSSELL

     Our grants sustains community organizations working towards:

  1. preventing root causes of social problems  
  2. promoting social change.

 

3.  GOALS FOR FINANCING PROJECTS  THROUGH UNITED WAY

      Reinforce the community’s capacity to fight poverty in partnership with organizations which:

               a.  bring together the community’s resources

               b.  support people and families in their efforts to become independent and improve their quality of life

      To lower the risks for children and teenagers by:

               a.  early intervention measures to prevent the development, amongst teenagers, of long term problems and high-risk behaviours.

               b.  helping families and communities meet children and teenagers’ basic needs, including emotional and social needs.

      To promote and support community life through organizations dedicated to fighting prejudice, negative attitudes and other obstacles to social integration.

      To favor the sharing of ideas and knowledge related to preventing negative social cycles.

     4.  ORGANIZATIONS ELIGIBLE FOR A GRANT FROM UNITED WAY

  1. The organization must have a charity number issued by the Canada Revenue Agency.
  2. The organization must offer services on the territory of Prescott and Russell.

5.  ORGANIZATIONS AND PROJECTS NON ELIGIBLE FOR A GRANT FROM UNITED WAY

  1. Research organizations
  2. Foundations, telethons, and other fund-raising organizations
  3. Projects whose goals are oriented solely toward competitive sports activities
  4. Projects whose goals are solely socio-cultural
  5. Projects with traditional activities such as scouting, seniors’ clubs, social clubs etc...
  6. Projects with regular religious, scholastic, institutional, hospital oriented activities, group activities such as school committees, pastoral councils, beneficiary committees, etc.
